For Staff and Potential Employees
How would I report concerns and possible violations of Empowerment's Policies and Procedures?
Empowerment has established policies and procedures for communicating conflicts, incidents and grievances. Employees receive information regarding these policies and procedures during their new staff orientation. At any time, you may request information on, or copies of, these policies and procedures from your supervisor or the corporate office human resources department.
How do I express an interest in employment at Empowerment?
You can apply online on our website, e-mail or mail your resume for consideration at any of our offices. We also welcome you to apply in person at any of our locations.
Do you have an incentive program for staff?
The company offers a referral program for employees who refer new people to Empowerment for employment. After a new employee satisfactorily meets the requirements for this program, the referring employee receives a cash bonus or gift for his/her referral.
What are the opportunities for advancement?
Empowerment supports in various way. Sometimes by providing letter of recommendations to employees that are going back to school or moving on to a new job, or taking new and greater responsibilities within the company. We encourage individuals to contact the Human Resources representative to discover current vacancies or opportunities for advancement.
What kind of training do new employees receive?
All new employees at Empowerment receive new staff orientation, which includes training in Empowerment policies and procedures, OSHA health and safety, HIPAA, working with persons with disabilities, behavior support and first aid. In addition, new employees also receive specific training about the needs of the individuals with whom they will be working. Other in-service training opportunities are available throughout the year.
For Potential Resident Seeking Services
How is staff screened and trained?
Before a new employee can begin working for Empowerment, we will conduct a criminal background check, a driving record check, an abuse/neglect record check, a personal interview with the prospective employee and reference checks with former employers. Once staffs are hired, they complete a comprehensive training program that exceeds licensing requirements and provides extensive in-house training to ensure optimal care of the people we support.
Who do I go to with questions/concerns?
It is our goal as a company to be responsive to the needs and interests of the people we support as well as to their families, guardians and case managers. Families and case managers are always welcome to drop by our homes to visit whenever their loved ones/clients are home. Each Empowerment Home has a supervisor available whom team members can contact 24 hours a day. Team members are also given the name and number of the Program Director who oversees the house supervisor as well as Empowerment management, and should feel welcome to call those people as well.
Are there visiting hours?
Families and friends of the people we support are encouraged to visit whenever possible. We are also able to facilitate family gatherings by offering to transport our clients to their family and friends' homes. It is not necessary to set up an appointment before visiting, but family members might want to give a call to make sure their loved one is home.
How will Empowerment ensure that I am happy with the services I receive?
Empowerment welcomes your feedback about the services and supports we provide. Any concerns, complaints or problems can be brought to any Empowerment staff at any time. Feedback about Empowerment can also be shared with your guardian, family member(s), friends, advocate, case manager/case coordinator or other professional, who in turn can communicate this information to us. Satisfaction Surveys are regularly completed by individuals we support, in order to obtain additional feedback. Empowerment management will listen to your concerns, and respond.
